Mame 0.78 roms upside down

i don't want to get the 0.78 mame pack at 26gb if i can avoid it. I really like this 'all killer no filler' rom pack i found. how do i utilize a dat or xml file or the hash info to link thumbnails to a different named rom? i cant possibly be the first person to want thumbnails.with actual game titles.there has to be some other solution other than wet thumbing my way through the entire library CtrlC CtrlV for 500 game titles to line up with their thumbnails. I can even add the libretro covers and most seem to work. lpl which I cant seem to replicate using the playlist buddy. it also seems to add a hash value in the. i can build a playlist (.lpl) on my PC using retroarch and it is pretty good, it solves one of my problems of turning the machine name of the ROM into a regular game title. 1/2.1/4.i.its s a trick!!!.….its a unit of measure somewhere between 0 and -1 multiplied by itself it gives you -1 and because we don't have a large enough understanding of mathematics to fully understand it yet we just call it i and multiply it by -1 later its fun no matter what answer I get back. Therefore you must use ROMs that are part of the MAME 0.78 ROM set. For example, at the time of writing, RetroPie uses MAME-2003 which is based on MAME 0.78. As with any MAME installation, to have the best chance of working you have to match the ROMs to the version of MAME. I love that equation because usually if you know a little bit about something you consider yourself pretty smart! most other people who know a lot about a subject realize they are not an expert and have a lot to learn. I noticed the MAME sets at MAY work with Retropie OS.
